My boyfriend and I are tenatively planning to get married in the middle of 2010. I know that you can never start too early nor can you save enough money for the wedding. I have no idea how to plan a wedding and what the timeline is for certain things. Is there a website that can kind of give me a walk thru for planning a wedding? We want to do it ourselves so that it is our wedding and not our parents lol.

Start by going to a wedding expo, those are such in inspiration to the wedding mode. Check out your local magazine racks and they usually hold a listing/guide of your local planners, vendors, sites, favors, etc.

Those three should help to get a start. You can also Google whatever specifics you are looking for. Congrads and Good Luck.

Wow 2010 that at least gives you plenty of time. My daughter is a Model who does Bridal Shows. She would tell you to check out “The Perfect Wedding Guide”….I understand that every state has it and you can go to several Bridal Shows and get FREE information and win prizes….Congratulations….

I found this planning checklist on line.

You can also try their matching system that will match you up with local vendors. I tried it and have good result as I only recieved email from vendors according to my request.

One problem I had with my wedding is that it is hard to locate vendors in most website as most likely they group by states and there are too many of them that’s too far from me and I have to look at each site to figure out.

The sites I provide above have a easy to use layout to show you pictures, pricing and location in one page plus, you can send out your inquiry for matching vendor to contact you. That save me lots of time to locate the best vendors with the right price.

There are places online like The knot.com or even the email site for The Ritz Carlton will provide you with wedding ideas, planning/ budgets/ Schedules. Or go to your nearest chain bookstore…chances are they have a variety of wedding planning binders…..about $30.00. It’s always nice to have ideas of what you want, but know that like trends in fashion, what you want today may not be what you want in 2010. Buying a wedding dress more than a year ahead of your wedding might make you wish you had waited at least 6 months later. If I were you, I would first focus on saving for the wedding. If you want the whole ritzy church ceremony and Reception / DJ/ Limo thing for your wedding.plan to budget at least $20,000….it’s a good idea that your wedding is in 2010!
    Big ticket items:
    1. Reception hall/ food /drinks
    2. Photographer
    3. ..videography is even more!
    4. Flowers/ Table decorations..i got my table flowers from costco!
    5. Invitations
    6. Party favors…forget those! who keeps those anyway?!?!?
    I hope this helped a little….good luck!
