I found out recently that Arab states conquered Persia soon after the founding of Islam, and a few of their cultural traditions, including extravagant weddings, were merged with the other Arab culture, meaning it’s really more of an Arabian thing than a Religious thing.

well i do agree with you dave. Women are not given equal rights in Islam. Men have all the liberties but not the female members of the islamic society. I wanna ask why are men allowed to have 4 wives whereas women have to marry just once? isn’t it injustice? is it equality? I remember one of the Imam’s i guess, who said we can’t let women wander around like animals. Well you can see what is the reputation of women in Islamic society.
