A thin band ring ( 2 mm ) like a wedding band of similar size is the minimum width to engrave without difficulties arising.  My wedding band is 2mm’s in width and I have it engraved without any issues.  There was however confined space because the top 1/2 the band has diamonds set into the band but there had been more than sufficient room to put what I wanted engraved inside my particular engravable wedding bands.
