How To Write A Killer Groom Wedding Speech

When I decided to get down on one knee a few years ago to propose to my beautiful wide Sarah, I so engaged in the moment that the thought of creating a Groom Wedding Speech never even crossed my mind to be honest!

In fact, it was only when the time came that I really started to worry about how my speech might be perceived, and I needed to create some kind of plan. I think I left it until like a week or so before my wedding that I even started to write my speech, so I was cutting it fine. Only one of my work pals had ever gotten married, so I didn’t really have any advice in that department and so it was pretty much down to me.

I started looking in Sarah’s magazines (what was I thinking?..) as I thought there might be some decent tips in there. Not by a longshot. Cut a long story short, I didn’t find a thing on creating a groom wedding speech anywhere so I resorted to looking online to see what I could find.

As luck would have it, I came across several decent resources albeit it took me about 4 days to find everything I needed so I could start putting the pieces of the puzzle together so to speak. I also came across some pretty cool templates and wedding speech examples, which I’ll talk more about later.

Personally, I wanted my groom’s speech to be quite funny but always remember that this is the most important day of your life, and you don’t want to go and mess it all up by being too informal when being serious is what really matters. In all the weddings that I’ve attended (four to be exact…) I’ve never known an instance when the “how we met” story didn’t go down a treat!

Seriously, even if it does sound a little bit sensitive and soppy, it instantly connects with your guests and gets them in an relaxed and engaged mindset which is exactly what you want. In my case, our first date was a complete disaster so it really made people laugh when I talked about the purple lobster we ordered at a particularly posh fish restaurant.

I think the fact that I was able to connect with our guests was the main factor in ensuring everything was a success. It really helped set the atmosphere for the night and helped to get everyone pumped up for the celebrations that were to follow.

When i got married a couple months back, I really didn’t know where to start when it came to writing an effective groom wedding speech. Save yourself the time and hassle by getting some more free information on my blog plus some awesome wedding speech examples and templates.
