Don’t Leave Your Honeymoon Planning Until The Last Minute

Honeymoons are more often than not an afterthought to the planning of the wedding itself, when, as far as memories go, they are of equal, if not greater, importance. Your honeymoon is an occasion which you’ll remember as long as you live, so think carefully about honeymoon locations and honeymoon ideas.
Initially decide what your objectives are for the trip and what you absolutely can’t do without. Where do you want to go? Do you want to relax or be active? What is most important to you? Beautiful weather, sightseeing, adventure, cost, etc. Talk over honeymoon ideas with your partner, talk about locations, undertake some online research and seek opinions from family and friends.
Visits to secluded beach resorts or islands remain the most popular choice, for obvious reasons. Such trips allow you to enjoy quality time with each other whilst relaxing from the hectic schedule of the last few months and losing yourselves in stunning surroundings.
Cruises are another option; they give you an equally peaceful, relaxing time whilst at the same time making it possible to visit a host of different locations. If you would have a preference for a more action-packed honeymoon, give consideration to a mountain resort or an adventure travel trip (such as backpacking or a safari).
As for honeymoon locations, consider the following: Australia, Bahamas, Bali, Canada, Costa Rica, Egypt, France, Hawaii, Maldives, Seychelles, Spain.
Whatever type of honeymoon and location you decide on, look to make reservations a minimum of six months beforehand to ensure that you’ll have the pick of the rooms, and can start planning in general. See if there is a ‘romance’ or ‘honeymoon’ package available; romantic extras like the honeymoon suite, champagne and flowers can make it even more memorable.
Research and book tours, tickets, restaurant seats, and any other activities that require advance reservations, particularly so if you’re traveling during peak season. Try not to over-plan though and make sure there is plenty of free time, especially during the first few days, in which simply enjoying the company of one another should be your main aim.
Your overall objective should be to make your honeymoon stand out from any other vacation. In addition to standard vacation items, consider packing some fun extras, like romantic music, candles, bubble bath, massage lotion and lingerie. Also, don’t forget to take a video camera and pocket camera with you, so you can look back on your special time together forever.
